Make your meals and money go further
A third of food in the UK never gets eaten, yet 13 million people in this country are struggling to afford to eat and right now food has never been so precious.
An important aspect of this waste is food bought by a household, but then thrown away rather than used. This is caused by poor or no planning of requirements; too much food bought and not consumed in good time; things lost at the back of the fridge or freezer and preparation of portions that are too large and subsequently thrown away.
Love Food Hate Waste aims to raise awareness of the need to reduce food waste and help people to take action. It shows that by doing some easy practical everyday things in the home we can all waste less food, which will ultimately benefit our purses and the environment too.
Love Food Hate Waste is part of WRAP, a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. The website www.lovefoodhatewaste.com helps with information on date labels, storage tips and recipes.
It works with a wide range of partners, from community organisations, chefs, UK Governments, UK businesses, trade bodies and local authorities through to individuals looking for practical advice.
